An Attitude of Gratitude

Tis the season, Goodwill towards Men, Deck the Halls, Noel and the such...

You know what... say Merry Christmas to everybody you meet and mean it. In this time in our world where it is (theoretically) not correct to say Christmas because you may offend non-Christians or whoever... well you know what... you can just ki** m* a** you dumb #%&(*@!$!. Hows them sentiments. I am so sick of hearing Happy Holidays or like K-marts theme... "Everybody Celebrate" and then plays generic seasonal music throught the retail establisments that take out the whole meaning of Christmas and any referrences to the reason for the season, Jesus.

You know what... pay attention as your frequenting the local businesses in your area and take note if they're part of the problem by playing those corrupted songs of the season with the words changed to be politically correct or not. If they have then let someone there know that you'll not be shopping there anymore.

I go out of my way to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and no one has NOT said it back to me with meaning and gusto behind it as if we're affirming to one another in some non secret code that we're sick of the few loudmouths who have attempted to ruin all that our country, nation, faith and values stand for. But, you know what they won't win. They just have been given too much control and we've been quiet for too long and it's time to take Christmas back and our Country's basis, morals, and faith.

Andy Rooney said it all in an eloquent peice during one of his commentaries on CBS and he just says it all...

AMEN ANDY ROONEY !
Right on, Andy Rooney!
Andy Rooney said on "60 Minutes" a few weeks back:

I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers.

The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America.
Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens... Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason; that is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts!
ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE?

I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion.

I have the right "NOT" to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.

When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling; it is the Law of Probability.

I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English!

My father and grandfather didn't die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.

I think the police should have every right to shoot your sorry ass if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the word "freeze" or "stop" in English, see the above lines.

I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsor ed bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business.

We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.

I don't hate the rich I don't pity the poor.

I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television.
That doesn't stop you from watching them.

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that's better, and put your name on the building.

It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to t he kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say "NO!"

I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don't pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals I don't want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries!

I am sick of "Political Correctness." I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa ; so how can they be "African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe ... I am proud to be from America and nowhere else.

And if you don't like my point of view, tough...

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG, OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA , AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL! AMEN!

I was asked to send this on if I agree or delete if I don't. It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a problem in having "In God We Trust" on our money and having "God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don't we just tell the 14% to Shut Up, lay down and BE QUIET!!!

So, in my opinion it comes down to and attitude... having and attitude of gratitude for all that we have been given... all that God has done for (us)me. Recognizing how much we have that we don't even deserve. The multitude of blessings everyday that go unnoticed or unappreciated...

I am overwhelmed. literally, every day with the miracles and blessings that the Lord pours upon me. He loves me and wants each of us to accept and experience that (unconditional) love. God is on our side, He wants only what is right and true and good for us. What do we choose.

So instead of an attitude of gratitude we have and attitude of entitlement, like we are owed all that we have and all that we want, that somehow its ours and we deserve it... that's what's wrong with our world today. Our egotistical attitude of entitlement that we are somehow better than anyone else and deserve what we want. Why else do we spend the money we do on those things that are so extreme and unecessary to our life... Its one thing to have money and thank God for it and appreciate appropriately all you have been blessed with and being thankful for the ability to give as you do... and it is another to be greedy, demanding, and just think that the world owes it to you.

What is your attitude... thankful or not...
Do you have enough... or want more...
Do you realize and understand with all your being that you have all you need RIGHT NOW... there is nothing more necessary than your relationship with God and appreciating that... Right!

Well I better get going. I still need to buy a few things at the store that I don't need because heck... I deserve it... right...? NOT!!!

Stop right now and adopt and attitude of gratitude... sincerly, truly, and for real. Then see how all those other "things" become blessings that overwhelm you with true gratitude...

Merry Christmas!!

Leggo my ego...

I just can't hold it in any more... if I do I may just explode... it is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. I don't understand it. It is everywhere, on almost everyone and the vanity behind it just makes me ill... Or at least my opinion is that it must be vanity or ego that prompts someone to do it. But, what do I know.

I am talking about tattoos. The discovery channel has a reality series called miami ink which I have never watched but see previews for during my favorite show... American Chopper. Yeah, I know Paul and Paul Jr. have them too...

I guess they must be nothing new since I watched Mel Gibsons movie Apocalypto and holy cow the ancient Myans' had tattoos all over their body, head, face, but, gut, knees and geesz... just everywhere.

So I sit in my office and this kid sits down at the computer a few down and I glance over and see a colorful lighthing bolt that starts behind his left ear and zigs and zags down the side of his face and neck who knows how far down below his clothing. Then I notice that each knuckle has some chicken scratch letters that looks like he spilled some black goo on his hands and if that is not enough he has even more marks on almost each finger between the knuckle and fingernail. Yeah, I admit it... I gawked, I stared... I am sure my mouth was gaping open and a look of amazement was my expression. Well I was really trying not to laugh out loud and just go off on a verbal rampage with no particular goal other than to insult someone who must be such an idiot and then maybe try to understand what would possess someone to do such a stupid idiotic thing.

Then of course in my day to day travels I run into all kinds of young people now who have done the most outrageous things to themselves in regard to this "body art". Its one thing to have a small symbol or inconspicuous tattoo somewhere that only your spouse may someday discover it, but, when you have daggers that come down your arm and below your shirtsleeve cuff and end on the back of your hand or wierd objects sticking above the collar of your shirt or in the upper chest, which is NOT covered by clothing... that just makes me wonder.

Not only do I wonder who in their right mind would ever take someone like this seriouly for any kind of professional job where they may have to dress for success the whole idea of that image and what it will look like in twenty of fifty years... can you imagine grandma or grandpa's neck with some image that now is so distored from the wrinkles and folds of skin that may come with old age...? It just makes me laugh and in my opinion realize how much these people must just "live for now" and not even consider the future, their possible careers and how they may be limiting themselves by these permanent body markings. Ugggghhh crazy, insane, stupid, idiotic, ridiculous, how moronic.

How egotistical must one be to do this to their body and think it "looks good" or makes them cool or popular, or whatever. Well maybe they crave to be different or stand out, or make a statement of independence that it is a simple way to do it. "Oh I'll just have a face tattooed on my neck..." or whatever. How insane. It'll be interesting to see how much more stupid these 20 somethings will look in twenty or thirty years from now.

Can you tell I hate tattoos and abhorr those who have them in places on their body where I have to see them when they are clothed. Yeah, I think they are morons.

Well, deep subject... here it is...

Yep, I finally did it... never thought I would... didn't think it would work and then just in the past few months I have been just bombarded with them... almost every day driving in the car... I'd be so overwhelmed I'd wish that someone would just open my brain and jot down all those profound thoughts... then after awhile I'd just think awwww... who am I to think that I am anyone special who would have any more profound thoughts than anyone else... thoughts that anyone would ever want to read or hear about...
So then, now, in a fit of irrationality I started my own blog... here it is you're reading it, Bobs thots... here and now and I wonder if the profound thought that come in the shower or when I am driving will now dry up as I attempt to spill them from my brain and intermost being on to the screen. I also titled my blog "Bob's Book" because as many people always want to write a book, I too want this. I want to write something so profound and insightful into the humann condition that it is just a best seller and flies off the shelf and I probably secretly want to become rich from putting those profound thoughts down in writing and challenging ideas. But, I'd never admit to that part... wanting to have a best seller... or even just a seller, which I could be paid for.
Well one thing that I will add to my first entry here is a link to a youtube video called "Did You Know 2.0"
It is a short movie put together for some educational board out west last year to generate discussion for the future concerns of education. It has made a profound impact on me and I think just everyone should be considering these facts in this video. Its implications are huge and overwhelming. My friend David whom I love and adore brought it to my attention and we had some cursory in depth comments about it. There is a lot there to take in and then ruminate over and then the BIG question... what to do with it...
Anyway, I am sure that I will make more comments about it in the future. It is something that you just need to watch and rewatch and then figure out a response..., an appropriate response, whatever that may be... but all I can say for now about it is a very significant WOW.
